COURSE INFO AND REVIEW
This Parkrun is located in Alexandra Park in the Moss Side/Whalley Range area of South Manchester. I parked on Brantingham Road and jogged over about 2K to it as part of my warm up but there will be parking options nearer.
Picture above is from the Alexandra Park Facebook Page posted a few days after the Run.
The course starts at the Café (Alexandra Pavilion) and involves 2 laps of the same route and then a slightly different route to finish.
This is definitely one of the easier courses I have done at Park Run as there are no hills and there are big wide paved areas to run in. It is a nice course through the park and one of the better ones.
MY RUN ON THE DAY
This was a rare park run where I wasn’t running competitively with myself to get a best time, and I just used it for a bit of fitness as part of my weekly mileage and to tick off a new course. I intended to do this one years back but found out it was cancelled due to icy conditions so it was good to finally get it ticked off.
My target time was to run it at a much more relaxed pace than usual, to finish under 21 minutes, which I did manage to do. It felt good for a change to not concern myself too much with running at a fast pace but obviously I don’t intend to run this way often as I like to push myself to achieve the best time possible.
Picture I took after the event showing the Pavilion. The run started on the other side of this.
The winning male time was 16:18 and the fastest female time was 19:51. In total there was 364 runners who finished the course.
