COURSE INFO AND REVIEW
NOTE: I wrote this review in 2021 but the course appears to be the same having checked the website. I am hoping to go back to do this one again in the near future.
Princes Parkrun is in an area of South Liverpool also known as Liverpool 8. This parkrun had a special significance for me because although I have always lived around Manchester, my family originate from this part of Liverpool and my grandparents used to tell me about growing up round Princes Park, and nearby Dingle.
The course is 2 laps of the park and does have some uphill and downhill sections, but I wouldn’t say it is a particularly hard course compared to some.
Above picture of the Lake within Princes Park was taken by me on a different date. Part of the route goes near to the Lake.
The start point was to the west of the Park near the entrance just off Devonshire Road West and I had done a decent warm up jog over from Woolton where my Grandma lives. The route involves 2 big laps, and then the finish is a straight section which allows you to finish strongly.
The uphills aren’t too hard but this course is slightly tougher than other ones which I have done that are flat. There is also a section where the ground is a bit slippy which the marshalls do inform you about at the start.

MY RUN ON THE DAY
The first 2K went how I hoped with both of them under 3:40/km pace but then with some uphill sections, my lack of endurance over 5K was found out a bit so I dropped to slower than 4:00/km pace on the 3rd and 5th K.
I had hoped to get in the top 10 but just missed out, finishing 11th. The winning male time was 16:28 and the fastest female time was 20:30.
