COURSE INFO AND REVIEW
NOTE: I wrote this review in 2019 so certain bits of information may not be accurate in relation to the current event at this location. But the parkrun page shows that this Parkun is still active.
Tøyen Park Run is located to the North West of Oslo and starts near the Tøyenbadet Swimming Facility (pictured further down the page). The course involves 3 laps, with a final 4th shorter lap to finish. This a hilly course and I found it much tougher than the Krakow Park Run I did the week earlier.
That said, it was a pleasant course to run, was welcoming for an English person (the instructions were explained by an English person anyway) and was a more challenging course than I usually do back home. I jogged about 3K to the Park from the Hotel I was staying in (near Slottsparken) so my warmup jog involved a few hills too. There were 100 runners on the day, with the winning male time being 17:35 and the fastest female time being 20:04.

MY RUN ON THE DAY
Since my Garmin watch had died the week before whilst in Poland, and I hadn't packed my charger, I had to carry my phone during the run which wasn’t ideal, but I managed to record it on Strava so my splits can be seen further down. I started out strong in the first 2K but slowed for the 3rd K, and found the hilly aspect on the 4th K difficult, slowing to above 4:00 mins per km pace.
I was hoping for a sub 19 minute time, but with the hills and carrying my phone round I wasn’t able to replicate my time from a week earlier in Krakow. This was my 2nd International Park Run outside of the UK so it was good to experience the event in another new country and I hope to tick off some more in the coming years!
