COURSE INFO AND REVIEW
NOTE: I wrote this review in 2021 so certain bits of information may not be accurate in relation to the current event at this location.
This Parkrun is located at Trelissick in Cornwall, fairly near to Truro (the biggest City nearby). For the pre-run brief, participants gather just outside the National Trust area where Trelissick Garden is before walking through to the start point.
The vast majority of the course is through a wooded area but there is a section towards the middle that involves running up quite a steep incline in a field and then back down a different part of the field again shortly after.
I did find this a tougher park run than I am used to with the field section having a steep incline, and the ground underfoot through the woods was quite unpredictable too.
MY RUN ON THE DAY
This was another holiday park run for me as I was on a family holiday to Cornwall so took the opportunity to tick another one off. I had been improving at 800m and had run a season’s best of 2:03 on the Tuesday.
However, my 5K endurance had steadily worsened over summer and the jog to get to this park run (from Devoran where we were staying) took a bit out of me as it involved a lot of uphill.
I was hoping for about 19:30 but someone I spoke to on the walk to get to the start point said that they were about 2 mins slower when doing this park run compared to others they'd done.

Even after about half a km I knew I was going to struggle with this course. I wasn’t feeling very motivated, and people had mentioned a tough section in the middle. That turned out to be a pretty steep incline in a field and it did take it out of me. The course is an out and back route so once you have looped round the field you then head back through the wooded area. The surroundings were quite nice on the run but I found the terrain quite rugged.
I was disappointed to finish in 21:26 since I had hoped I was in about 19:30 shape. The winning male time was 16:31 and the fastest female time was 21:49.
