COURSE INFO AND REVIEW
This Parkrun is located in Worsley Woods in Salford. There is reasonable parking very close by at Dukes Drive Car Park and it is free.
The course is an out and back but does have a section that goes up some steps and through more uneven ground in the wooded area before you run back towards the start.
This felt like a medium difficulty compared to others I’d done due to the steps but there is 3K+ worth of flatter ground to run faster on too.
MY RUN ON THE DAY
The start point was near the Car Park up a slight hill from the road. I’d had a look at the finishing times from previous weeks so was hoping to finish in the top 10, maybe top 5, but I didn’t feel at my best as I was only just getting in to winter training.
The first lap was quick on flat ground but then the 2nd and 3rd K were more difficult, particularly the middle K with uneven ground and some incline elements with steps. I slowed down a lot in the 3rd K but the split time for the 3rd K may have GPS inaccuracy caused by the woods and bridges overhead.

I did find the middle section of the run challenging due to the undulating terrain and where we ran on slippy ground or through puddles at times. Once that section was over though the last 2K of the run was very favourable for running quick and is basically a flat stretch on reasonable ground underfoot the whole way back to the finish.
I ended up in 4th place which I’d hoped for if I ran under 19 mins from looking at the times in the previous weeks, but it was still over 1 min slower than my best time. This was my first run on this course.
The winning male time was 16:53 and the fastest female time was 20:00. In total there was 360 runners who finished the course.
